Geographic differences in diet of emus
We are currently conducting a comparative study on emu diet across eastern Australia, to determine if their are dietary diferences across the east of Australia. This involves the use of stable isotope analysis and scat analysis to qualtify differences in broad diet across different georgaphic regions.
A team of volunteers are currently collecting samples for analysis from across NSW and VIC. Below are some identification pictures of emu scats, feathers and eggshells, if you would like to help in the collection (get in touch on the 'contact details' page). We collect only dicarded feathers (on fences, the ground or from roadkill), hatched and abandoned broken eggshells and scats.
